Education Minister of Pakistan

Shafqat Mehmood is an official Pakistani politician. He is the current Education Minister of Pakistan. Federal Minister for National History and in service since 20 August 2018. Shafqat Mehmood was before a member of the Pakistan Administrative Service.

Early Life and Education:

Shafqat Mehmood was born on 19 February 1950 in Lahore, Punjab. Later Study at Government College University. ¬†Before making his Diploma of Merit from the University of Punjab in 1970. Shafqat Mehmood completed his master’s in Psychology and Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard University in 1981. Shafqat Mehmood completed his Masters’s in Public Policy and Administration from the University of Southern California.

Political Career:

Shafqat Mehmood has had a famous political occupation over three years. He was appointed as political secretary to the then Prime Minister of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto. He continued as a member of PPP to represent the party on foreign tours. He remained a close aide of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.
Shafqat Mehmood, the first of the Pakistan Peoples Party, was elected to the Senate of Pakistan in 1994. He rejoined the Senate as a confident candidate in 1997 and continued as a member of the Senate until 2000. In 1996 he was drafted into the federal cabinet of caretaker Prime Minister Malik Meraj Khalid. He was then appointed as Federal Minister for Food, Agriculture, and Sheep.
As a member of the military government set up following the 1999 Pakistani coup d’etat, he worked as Provincial Minister of Punjab for Information from 1999 to 2000. He used to study PTI and its chief Imran Khan.
After the Death of Benazir Bhutto, he left PPP. He joined PTI in November 2011 and served as information secretary of PTI from December 2011 to March 2013.
He was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan from Constituency. NA-126 (Lahore-IX) as a candidate of PTI in the 2013 Pakistani general election. He received 97,933 votes and defeated Khawaja Ahmad Hassan, a candidate of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N).
In the 2015 elections, Shafqat Mehmood left as PTI’s organizer in Lahore after the party’s poor performance in local government elections held in October. However, in May 2017, he became PTI’s central information secretary. As a result, he was re-elected to the National Assembly as a candidate of PTI from NA-130.
On 18 August, Imran Khan formally published his federal cabinet structure. Shafqat Mehmood was named Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training and Minister for National History.

Education is the fundamental right of every child and a primary feature of the progress of any nation. In modern times, no country can survive without quality education. Human Resource Development is the central pillar of government education. Education plays a fundamental role in forming human social capital. The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has joined all its plans to obtain the targets of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG-4) The Government of Pakistan has formed the National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Policy 2015. This Policy provides the needs of the industrial sector by giving value to people with training and skills. National Education in education, National Curriculum Council (NCC), has been made with membership from all provinces. I am sure that this Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training; lead will improve Education of Education in the Country and ensure holistic development and economic growth.
